As if writing a book weren’t enough, Robert Gordon also co-directed a documentary film, narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, to accompany “Respect Yourself.”

A Cappella Books and The Bitter Southerner will host a screening of “Respect Yourself” on Friday, Feb. 21, at Atlanta’s landmark Plaza Theatre. Our special guests will be Gordon and one of Stax’s earliest hitmakers and songwriters, the amazing William Bell.

After the screening, The Bitter Southerner’s editor, Chuck Reece, and Nelson Ross will interview Bell and Gordon, and we’ll take questions from the audience.

To understand the Stax story — and how Stax set an example of true racial cooperation and reconciliation for the South — seeing this film is a must. Please come join us on Feb. 21. We'll watch a great film, hear great music and have a great discussion. There are 185 tickets only. We suggest you move quickly.
