With “A Portrait of Charlayne Hunter-Gault,” the Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company in Washington, D.C., pays tribute to our guest editor, the civil rights icon and legendary journalist who continues to dedicate her life to a more just world.
“When I saw her portrait at the National Portrait Gallery, I was inspired to celebrate her through dance,” says the company’s artistic director, Dana Tai Soon Burgess. “Her story, her courage, and her grace is a stunning example to so many.”
